The Very Hungry Caterpillar™

Saturday 5 April – Sunday 1 June

Step into the enchanting world of Eric Carle's beloved story, brought to life across the grounds of Edinburgh Zoo! This delightful family-friendly trail invites visitors of all ages to follow the journey of the iconic caterpillar as he munches its way through nature while discovering interactive activities and educational surprises along the way.  

Trail maps are £3 per child and include a prize at the end! Don’t forget to bring a pencil to complete it. The installations can also be enjoyed free of charge during your visit.  

On selected dates, we will also be hosting some fun and interactive story time sessions! These will take place within the zoo, also free with your visit on:  

Saturday 5, Sunday 6 April, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 April

Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May

Make sure you don’t miss out – ask on arrival for the story time location!

Prefer something a bit quieter? We are also running some quiet story telling sessions indoors. Tickets for this session must be booked in advance as numbers are limited. Find out more!
