Over 40 eight-foot-tall giraffe sculptures were welcomed by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) at Ocean Terminal yesterday (17 March) ahead of Edinburgh Zoo’s upcoming Giraffe About Town trail.

In partnership with Wild in Art, the event will see the herd of individually designed giraffes go on display across Edinburgh in summer 2022 to help the capital recover after lockdown.

Most of the models will be designed and decorated by local artists and community groups in a painting space in conjunction with Living Memory Association within Ocean Terminal. Later they will be auctioned to raise vital funds to support RZSS wildlife conservation work in Scotland and around the world.

Sculptures are due to hit the streets from Friday 1 July. For more information, please visit giraffeabouttown.org.uk.
